Lucinda Williams is one of the greatest songwriting talents of our time. Daughter of poet Miller Williams, and friend of poet, the late Frank Stanford, this Southern rock'n'roll troubadour has been baring her soul on stage for fifty years. Her bluesy, folk rock art has always been fuelled by personal and political poetry. Beloved for songs like Those Three Days, Drunken Angel, Lake Charles, I'm Blessed, and Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, Williams summons the south, the road, and the broken world .

In this unusual ekphrastic workshop, writers will immerse themselves in the songs of Lucinda Williams, along with a curated selection of thematically-related artworks, using them for inspiration for flash fiction or poetry.

Before the workshop weekend, writers will receive an information packet with a wide variety of prompts to choose from. Prompts will include Lucinda songs, artworks, questions and throught provoking ideas, words from Lucinda's songs, and more. We will connect inside a private Facebook group to share stories and poems. You will receive supportive feedback on one piece each day, but may write as many as you wish. You will read and comment on your peers' works as well, and can share favourite songs and chat about them.

On Sunday evening, we will celebrate Lucinda, art, and literature in a Zoom. You can bring Champagne or tea.
