Joan Miró, one of the world's most beloved artists, painted surrealist, abstract, naive, and geometric works but remained fiercely independent and resisted labels, group identity, and definition. The Catalan artist suffered serious bouts of depression that influenced his desire to make art with a playful, magical aesthetic, meant to conjure joy.
In this workshop, we will look at Miro's art and life and use several artworks as prompts for our own poetry or fiction drafts.
