Tangled Love: a three day ekphrastic microfiction workshop with Meg Pokrass and Lorette C. Luzajic Join Meg and Lorette for an ekphrastic microfiction workshop grappling with forbidden love. Dangerous liaisons, infidelities, and torrid love affairs are complex parts of the human condition, causing existential crises, upheavals, and agony along with the ecstasy. But as Emily Dickinson once wrote, the heart wants what it wants. Art history is full of passionate affairs and brutal betrayals that can inspire our stories with one of the great themes of literature. Join us to create searing, sizzling, nuanced microfictions on tangled love. The workshop is asynchronous and online to accommodate various schedules and time zone considerations. Participants will connect in a private Facebook group and work at their own pace. You will write a microfiction story each day, choosing from a wide variety of prompts and inspirations on the theme. Each of your three stories will receive supportive feedback from Meg and from Lorette. Click on image above for more information or to register. Discover the joy of juxtaposition and the awakening of creativity through collage, with Ekphrastic editor Lorette C. Luzajic. This four week course will get you started on your own collage mixed media practice. We will look at the history of collage, discover the diverse work of artists around the world, and create our own projects. The course will cover topics like colour in collage and mixed media, composition, tools, adhesives, collecting and creating collage materials, choosing themes that resonate, and finding your voice. Each week will include both discussion of the above topics and creation of your own collage mixed media pieces. Click on image above for more information or to register. Popular in the art and jazz scene in Chicago, Gertrude was a familiar flamboyant personality, getting lost in the cracks after her decline and passing. Her work has been rediscovered and is currently touring several cities. Her curious art is full of mystery and symbolism and especially evocative for writers.
