First project on arrival – yardstick to measure furniture, rugs, a stack of books. Results written on paper regarded as precious document. One last time lining up the beanie babies. Folding paper airplanes to take each stuffy for a trip around the solar system. Now a second year the room has not been comforted by your innocence. Her white walls miss your boisterous sense of humor. Still wonder if your new reserved and serious manner is a sign of natural maturity. Or robbery of the childhood years you were still entitled. Pandemic pain of half a room. Sadness rushes to fill in the spaces. This room wants you and worries. All these months later she has learned nothing new about happiness.
