Moonlight in the Conservatory

Frost-bitten by disappointment 
she looks toward the pages of ink

Books offering her curiosity, a ladder
to follow the silver butterfly

Outside the window pane
Snow-drops blossom
winter feathers

author's note: "My cut-up found poem is pieced together from text (no more than three words in a row) I extracted from the book Little Women, by Louisa M. Alcott, published in 1880. (The e-book version of it is now available in the Public Domain through Project Gutenberg.) I enjoyed the calming effect this crafting experience gifted me as I thought about flowers in the wintertime."
