Mr. Reid,
Your Visual Poem (which I misread as "A Virtual Poem") intrigued me, even as I pondered how you submitted it to Ms. Luzajic. Did you simply photocopy and send? Obviously you did a fair amount of cut-and-paste. Will you tell us about your technique, please? And should this be called a "found" poem? I especially liked the line "a technique of aerial perspective." Happily the poem reminded me of my ice-skating-days at home on the farm, on a frozen pond in the thick of one long-ago winter.

A slow reply but here I am. The poem was created as part of an Ekphrastic Module in an MA course in Poetry at QUB Belfast. I studied it for ages and decided to write a poem called "Opera", which is what the scene evoked in my mind, and to slash it up like i had skated over the painting itself, to let words into it - to speak something of it. I wanted to see if I could add a dynamic element like the experience of skating itself. The idea of visual poetry surfaced in me and I am on a journey with it. Large print, scalpel, glue stick, a few cuts and lots of words! Thank you.

My volume Color and Line (of ekphrastic and other poetry) releases in January 2021 from Kelsay Books.
I find your scalpel, glue, and words method quite refreshing and soundly attractive, a unique approach.
