Along Zandvoort Beach
After the crunching and creaking
you emerge from the mist
and wander soft sands
under a scattered sky where the air is still;
your head is numb and you hear
no sound except gentle waves
then you finally turn to stare
at the wreck that you caused
and all you recall is the echo of warning
saying, "don’t you see the signs?"
