Blue Nude rhythms moving lightly across a page a striped cello suite performs this dance of absence a nude woman prints on the wall cuts out what’s unnecessary paper flowers blue vases from the form bodies stretch from an odd assortment of snips and tucks reassemble themselves into limbs into grace a semblance of wholeness cut into assembled beauty make a picture in your mind to appeal to the senses tell more than a story with what’s missing what’s missed unlinked these limbs clasp an illusion of connection becoming amphora flame radiant form transformation of shadows which tower than merge erratic on the wall flesh in dim light blue veined translucent these bodies cradle sparks in the next room a clear bowl aquarium holds Chinese fighting fish a wall between them shields flames this memory cut from childhood cut from some other mind scarlet turquoise the tail feathers of a fish wet flares glass shadows one or two things to be spoken still life slips between blue spaces red mangled without walls shapeless without cutting away Julie Kizershot Julie Kizershot has been published in Rougereau, The Marsh Hawk Review, Bombay Gin, The Sonora Review, 13th Moon, Calyx and others.
