 The Answer is No, by Kay Sage (USA), 1958. Furious Answers
The answer is definitely NO! I don't want a hopeless sky layered with shades of dark grey diffusing to pale teal on the near horizon. I don't want my view squared off limited and restricted by blank, silent or unstretched canvas. I want hope I want light sunlight and nuances of shade. I want colour nature humanity. I want contesting contrasting startling arresting uplifting questioning visions. I want painters, photographers carvers and engravers, collagists and ceramicists weavers and wordsmiths with their delicious, curious, glorious, furious answers to burst from the frames set my mind on fire. Yes I like this poem with colour as a metaphor for hope, and all the jobs we do with colour - painters, weavers, and poets amongst them, working as they do with word colour. This seems simple in form but swells with feeling like a line of music. Lovely Sue! Thanks! 11/7/2016 01:08:25 pm

Sue this is a powerfully hopeful poem. I want more of life too. More sunrises and sunsets over beautiful woods and hills, more springs in the garden, More walks on beaches in bare feet, more bustle in busy cities sharing visits to galleries, theatres and cafes with friends,. More time t o live thoughtfully. Your poem gave me space to feel more mindful and less boxed in. Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
