A tire spins
spits bits of loam                                                                                                             
wet, yielding
fleeting traction
quick transaction
satisfaction
shoulda coulda woulda
put on chains
drive through snow-blind night
and traffic lights
illuminating puddles
squishy footsteps
umbrella husks in bins
a touch of gas, it spins
and spins
if only this would catch
we’d drop it into gear
be outta here
before you had a chance to say
what if
