The City and I At the end of the surviving bides a moment of something different. I fall in love again with the sliver of sky that unfurls behind my window, and I see how the city is fragmented between the skyscrapers and the billboards and the stale air. Light and shadow cleave my notebook in two. On the street, three disparate figures fall still as if listening for something.
